Andy Houghton MSc BSc (Hons)
Who am I? I’m a dad and a husband. Living in Edinburgh and lucky enough to have a warm and enthusiastic family and set of friends around me who help me to stay centred and be me. I’ve lived in Scotland for about 10 of the last 20 years, with the rest spent in England and the USA.
I remain, however, a Yorkshireman at heart. Academically, my training was in psychology but it was in the people-focused business function of HR and consulting that I wanted to work. Firstly with HR and Talent roles in energy, financial services and consumer goods. Then 10 years of consulting, deepening my coaching, assessment and facilitation expertise. I moved into leadership roles in the USA with a PE-funded management buy-out along the way.
I founded WholeHearted in 2015, keen to ensure people and the companies they keep are aligned on the basics of ‘Why’: Why be here? Why, do this? Why go that way? How is my ‘why’ as an employee and leader united with the ‘why’ of the business?

In my spare time, I love to travel, explore new restaurants and spend time with my husband and young children.
I am currently an independent consultant based in London, England. I started my career at Barclays Bank in a number of Marketing and HR roles, invaluable experience for understanding how a multinational organization functions and what it really takes to successfully lead businesses and teams in this environment. The majority of my career was spent at YSC, a boutique global consultancy specializing in leadership development, individual assessment and coaching. Here I assessed and coached hundreds of leaders across a full spectrum of industries and countries, building up a deep benchmark of leadership excellence. My approach to coaching utilizes my psychological training, but is very practically based, human and authentic in style. Clients comment on my ability to understand their motivations and deliver challenging feedback in a way that is palatable and constructive.
